Each facilitator with The Alternative Board® (TAB) is an experienced business person who has successfully completed an extensive TAB facilitator training program and participates in ongoing training sessions. Most facilitators run or have run their own businesses giving them a unique perspective to share with the board members.
The TAB facilitator guides the group discussions without dominating the meetings and encourages all members to express their views while keeping the discussion on track. They also ensure problem solving ideas are generated and the meeting does not become a gripe session.
Jay Duquette is a TAB Certified-Facilitator and Coach with The Alternative Board - Pittsburgh. Working together with colleagues Steve Swanson and Don Lodge, he motivates and inspires business owners, presidents and CEOs to realize their potential, achieve their goals and live their dreams.
Jay has been a Senior Associate with The Institute for Independent Business (IIB) for 3 years, offering comprehensive mentoring services to owners of small and medium-sized businesses. Jay has proven success solving management problems in a variety of areas---personnel, sales and marketing, operations, accounting and finance. Outcomes achieved for his clients include improved cash flow and profitability, more efficient organization and strategic planning for the future.
Personal experience gives Jay an inside track on the issues typically faced by private business owners. Upon graduation from Carnegie Mellon University with a BA in Business and Economics, he began as the operating manager of Monroeville - Mayflower Transit, Inc. Jay subsequently purchased the company and remained the owner and manager for 22 years, until selling the business in 2003. Presently, he remains the landlord of the property.
Along with providing business advisory and support services to his IIB clients, Jay is also accredited as an IIB Mentor and Coach – the only Accredited IIB Coach in Pennsylvania, and one of only 25 accredited coaches in the United States.
He administers behavioral assessments through Profiles International, and is a Managing Consulting Partner with Interactive Resource Group (IRG), a company providing customized sales training for larger corporations.
